Welcome to the website for the Arrowsmith Water Service
and the Englishman River Water Service

Mt Arrowsmith

The intent of this website is to provide residents with a general knowledge and understanding of the purpose of the Arrowsmith Water Service (AWS). This website provides information about the background and history of the Arrowsmith Water Service, the current governance model, past studies and reports, the purpose of bulk water and current studies and activities that support future water supply. This website will be updated as new information becomes available.

Drinking water is the public's principal natural resource and ensures our best security for the future. This is why we are currently in a planning process to ensure we have safe potable water supply for now and in the future.

Planning for water supply in this region dates back many years. We secured storage by building the Arrowsmith Dam in 1999 and the next phase is to build an improved intake and state-of-the-art water treatment facility. This will mitigate our current risks and ensure a safe, secure drinking water source for the next forty years.

We are fortunate to have two sources of water supply, from wells and from the Englishman River. However, we currently cannot use the Englishman River source year round as it becomes too muddy (turbid) in the fall and winter. With water treatment on the Englishman River, we will be able to draw and treat surface water year round.
